Title: Intolerable
Characters: Kisame, Itachi
Genre: Angst
Word Count: 336
Author's Note: Winning entry for the naruto100 challenge First and Last.

When Kisame noticed he was being watched and turned to look at him, Itachi didn't change his expression, but something was beginning to pound between his templesCollapse )

Title: Remnants
Character: Sasuke
Word Count: 711
Rating: R
Warnings: Spoilers up to chapter 346 of the manga, heavily implied sex.
Author's Note: Written due to a combination of my irritation at Chapter 346, rayemars’ urging (sort of; it took her like four words to push me over the edge), and a drabble by metamorphe from which I heavily drew influence. Dealing with the possibility that Sasuke did not override his old teacher’s consciousness quite as thoroughly as he believed at the time.

The first word that crossed Sasuke's mind was less *fool* and more *beast*Collapse )

+Pairings (all implied): Itachi/Kisame, Deidara/Tobi, Sasori/Deidara, Kakuzu/Hidan (the story is basically the gen version of an Akatsuki orgy)

+Word Count: ~2,900
+Rating: PG-13
+Warnings: Character death (implied and explicit), swearing, spoilers up to chapter 342 of the manga.
+Summary: In which there are late-night encounters under fluorescent lights, things left unsaid, and beverages.
+Author's Note: Written for Inspector Parker on yaoi_challenge.

For all his inborn intuition, Uchiha Itachi had no talent whatsoever at predicting the futureCollapse )

Drabble Meme
Totally stealing this from rayemars. I've gotten into a bit of a rut lately, trying to focus on super-long pieces that drive me to distraction, and I thought this might help get me out of it. Anyway...

Give me a character from any of my fandoms (active or defunct) and I'll tell you five things that never happened to them.

For relative newcomers to my journal, you can find my list of fandoms on my profile page.

Edit: Because I am insufferably slow and also tend to write a drabble per point, I'll probably only get one of these done a night (though sometimes perhaps more). So, if you don't get yours for a week or so, don't worry, it will get done.

Title: Dinner Plans
Pairing: Saitou x Sanosuke
Rating: PG
Genre: Romance/Humor
Warnings (including spoilers): Spoilers for the Shishio Arc.
Author's Note: Written for gryvon for yaoi_challenge. Beta-ed by gelfling8604.
Synopsis: In which Sano wants dinner and Saitou isn't about to pay for it.

The way Sano saw things was this: Saitou owed him dinnerCollapse )

Christmas present for rayemars
Title: A Compass That Doesn't Point North
Characters: Long Feng, Azula
Word Count: ~3,400
Rating: PG-13
Genre: A/U, General
Warnings (including spoilers): Spoilers for the second season finale of Avatar: The Last Airbender, subtext
Author's Note: Subtitles of this include Why Invading the Fire Nation Would Have Been A Bad Idea and All Good Politicians Took Some Acting Classes Back In Grammar School, which should give you some idea of my train of thought when I wrote this. Anyway, this is a Christmas present for rayemars, who wanted Azula/older guy smut (preferences include Zhao and Long Feng), or failing that, Azula interacting with one of said older guys, with hopefully some subtext thrown in. Obviously, I went for option number two. Also, I don't do the quote thing. Rayemars does the quote thing. However, I wrote this for rayemars, so I thought it somewhat appropriate.
Synopsis: If presented with a river, a canoe, and a bridge that would take three days of travel to get to, an Earthbender would invariably take the long way around. Unfortunately, some don't get a choice in the matter.

Equilibrium was by this point something of a cherished memory instead of an achievable goalCollapse )

Avatar and My Birthday
Tomorrow I turn 19, which is a completely useless age, but oh well. There will be cake involved, but I already received the presents my family gave me (a trip back home for Thanksgiving and the Collector's Edition of FFXII, to name a few). Mm... presents.

Now on to something I sadly consider to be of more interest to me personally.

Title: Filial Piety
Characters: Vexen, Riku's Replica
Word Count: ~7,100
Rating: PG-13
Warnings (including spoilers): Contains spoilers for pretty much all of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. Minor spoilers for Kingdom Hearts 2.
Author's Note: Oh... wow. If there ever was a fic I wanted to MST, it's this one. I don't think I've ever put so much thought into a fanfic, ever. Anyway... thanks goes out to kytha for the rather weird idea of Vexen as a parental figure for the Riku Replica, and to silvestris because the Vexen & Marluxia scene in this rips off mercilessly from her Marluxia/Vexen fic, though without the porn. This story sort of contradicts canon, but it also gives reasons for doing so. Extra points to people who can figure out which of the dialogue is verbatim taken from Chain of Memories.
Definition of the title, taken from Wikipedia: In Confucian and Buddhist thought, filial piety is one of the virtues to be cultivated: a love and respect for one's parents and ancestors. In general terms, filial piety means to take care of one's parents; not be rebellious; show love, respect and support; display courtesy; ensure male heirs, uphold fraternity among brothers; wisely advise one's parents; conceal their mistakes; display sorrow for their sickness and death; and carry out sacrifices after their death.
Synopsis: In which an experiment is unexpectedly successful and Vexen has absolutely no idea what to do with the results.

Proud as he was of his accomplishment, he possessed neither Xemnas’s capacity for theatrics nor Marluxia’s delusions of grandeurCollapse )

Real/Internet Life Bitching
I am so fucking tired of getting blown off. I'm beginning to wonder if I have 'SUCKER Overly Nice Person, Please Walk All Over' written across my chest or something. I have a project partner who is nice enough most of the time but consistantly shows up 15 to 25 minutes late when we're supposed to work together and someone on the internet who's owed me a picture for 15 fucking months. Really, I'm not a nice person. I have the most violent inner monologue ever. It just doesn't end up here very often because on the internet I can edit for content. I guess it says something about me that I'm more pissed about the 'showing up fifteen minutes late' thing than 'has owed me a pic for fifteen months' thing, but internet time is different than real life time. Still... 15 months? Jesus Christ. I really just don't care anymore. Screw it.

Um... this is totally wrong, but for some reason right now I would kill for some good KH: CoM Marluxia/Vexen (in that order) non-con. And yes, I do mean kill, which in fandom terms means a very long fangirly comment at least, up to writing something in exchange. Yes, I am more than slightly disturbed. *sigh* If only I could write porn...

Edit: Okay, thing is, I usually don't even like non-con. I just love the hate relationship Marluxia and Vexen have and think in the usual context of fanfic, sex is one of the easier ways for Marluxia to mess with Vexen's head. Some psychological power-tripping would be awesome too, though. Vexen losing it is always fun.

Character Love Meme
Ganked from harukami: Name a character from one of my fandoms, and I will tell you in at least 100 words what that character loves best about another character from the same fandom.

You know my fandoms. Go at it.

Title: Seven Stories For Fourteen Nobodies
Characters: Organization XIII + Namine
Word Count: ~5,000
Fandom: Kingdom Hearts 2 and Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories
Rating: PG-13
Genre: Character Studies
Warnings (including spoilers): Spoilers for KH: CoM and KH2. Lots of subtext.
Author's Note: As this is my personal journal, all of you are cursed graced with my personal commentary following each ficlet. I wrote this because I wanted to experiment with the characterizations of all the Nobodies and write interactions between characters who aren't seen talking much, either in fandom or canon. Just for reference, the character listed first in the 'title' is the POV character for that ficlet.
Synopsis: In which there is no timeline and no overriding theme, except that for once, absolutely no one is left out.

Roxas, Xaldin, 'spar'Collapse )

Demyx, Lexaeus, 'audience'Collapse )

Larxene, Luxord, 'argument'Collapse )

Vexen, Marluxia, 'edge'Collapse )

Axel, Xigbar, 'prank'Collapse )

Namine, Saix, 'vision'Collapse )

Xemnas, Zexion, 'end'Collapse )

Canon that has...
I'm handing out canon awards. To canon universes. Just because.

Canon that makes me wish I could write porn: Bleach. Mostly because of Grimmjow, whom I love but for some reason only want to write having sex with people, even though I can't write sex.

Canon that actually has me cheering for the protagonists: D. Gray-man. Mostly because of Crowley, and the fact that I find the villains unbelievably boring.

Canon that makes me want to write psychological fanfic and interactions between random characters, just because: Kingdom Hearts 2. Organization XIII makes me wonder about things. Mostly if you are more or less likely to have sex without emotions getting in the way (which still doesn't explain why it took 8,700 words to get Vexen and Xigbar together when I managed to do the same with Orochimaru and Naruto in less than 7,000).

Canon where I wish fanfic authors would write the main protagonist and main antagonist together, even though they never do: Rurouni Kenshin. Because I want to imagine how Shishio and Kenshin would have reacted to each other if they met during the Bakumatsu.

Canon that makes me like the widest range of characters: Naruto. Because I like someone from every camp (i.e. Sand, Sound, Leaf, Mist, and Akatsuki), wherein pretty much every other fandom I only like people from one or two camps, and then not very many. Probably why I've stuck with this one for so long.

Canon where the anime really is better than the manga: Slayers. Really, the third season is awesome, and the series is pretty much made for random filler.

Canon I'll always have a place in my heart for, even if I still wish each fight didn't take fifty episodes to finish: Dragonball Z. ...Does this one really need any explanation?

Canon that really is perfect as it is, and that's probably why there is almost no fanfic for it, a.k.a. all you feel is satisfied after you watch it. Really: Samurai Champloo. One of the best anime series ever, hands down, but I wrote one drabble and have never felt the least urge to write for it since then.

Title: The Scientific Method (up for a better title)
Pairing: Vexen/Xigbar
Word Count: ~8,700
Fandom: Kingdom Hearts 2
Rating: PG-15
Warnings: Spoilers for the identities of the first six members of Organization XIII and the original name of Hollow Bastion, swearing, minor sexual content.
Author's Note: This was written for kytha, who ironically provided both the summary and the necessary editing, which resulted in this fic being 1,000 words longer than the original draft. This is the longest one-shot I've ever written, which is kind of amusing considering this is a virgin fandom for me. In other words, if I got the characterizations horribly, horribly wrong, I got thousands of words of characterization horribly, horribly wrong. Just so everyone knows that I am not, in fact, all that original, Xaldin's engineering background, Lexaeus's fondness for botany, and Ienzo having long hair before he lost his heart all are stolen from rabbitprint's KH2 fic.
Summary (stolen from kytha's prompt): Their elements do not oppose, their research never crosses, and their quarters are located in entirely different wings of the castle: despite this, they clash anyway, partly because Vexen has never learned how to let go of a grudge, and partly because Xigbar has never learned how to let go of anything that amuses him.

Even Dilan hadn’t been able to escape when someone who had just finished his paper on economics in hunter-gatherer societies early dumped a laxative into the oatmealCollapse )

Edit: Now with two amazing (okay, one amazing and one hilarious) illustrations courtesy of kytha right here.

This is an important fic-related question, I promise.

If a pen were to fall approximately 2,000 feet, taking into account wind resistance and so on, what speed would it be going when it hit the ground, and how likely would it be to kill someone (or rather, how much damage could it potentially do) if it hit them on the top of the head?

Why am I asking this? Um... my newest fandom is scientist...y. And kind of retarded.
